Working Bridges: I/R & A in the Workplace

United Way's Working Bridges program in Northern Vermont is a partnership founded in 2006 with local employer partners to support engagement, employee retention, advancement, and financial security. By leveraging workplaces as a platform for support and services, workplace Community Resource Specialists provide in-person resource navigation and financial coaching. Participants will:

Learn about United Way's Working Bridges program model and key strategies, with a strong focus on resource coordination at work.

Understand the issues Resource Coordinators assist employees with, and the impact onsite Resource Coordination provides businesses, individuals, and community.

Identify how Inform USA's quality standards are embedded in Working Bridges service delivery and guide best practice.
Connie Beal has led United Way of Northwest Vermont’s Working Bridges program for 5 years, having previously served in the Resource Coordinator role for 5 years. In her current role, she oversees the Working Bridges program alliance with Green Mountain United Way, which spans a team of 13 resource coordinators that support employees across 33 workplaces. Ms. Beal is additionally responsible for training and development services, program innovation, community partnerships, and employer relationships. Prior to Working Bridges, Ms. Beal worked at Vermont 2-1-1, a 24/7 health and human service helpline. She holds a Bachelor of Psychology from Colby College, a Master of Public Administration from the University of Vermont, and is a graduate of Leadership Champlain.
