Brian Tiefenbrun serves as the Interim Director of Connect Mat-Su, a program of the Mat-Su Health Foundation focused on connecting Mat-Su residents with community resources and strengthening the broader network of service providers across the region.
Brian brings a diverse background in nonprofit operations, community systems, technology, and direct service. His work includes oversight of daily operations, referral infrastructure, partner engagement, data systems, and process improvement efforts that support a more connected and responsive community care network. He has helped advance digital tools and referral pathways that improve how information is shared, how needs are identified, and how community partners better understand emerging trends related to health, housing, welfare, and social supports.
Prior to his work with the Mat-Su Health Foundation, Brian served ten years in the U.S. Army as a combat medic, an experience that shaped his commitment to service, practical problem-solving, and community care. He later worked in child welfare with the State of Alaska, further deepening his understanding of complex family systems, community needs, and coordinated support.
Brian holds bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Graphic Design & Media Studies, with a concentration in web development. This blend of human-centered service experience and technical knowledge allows him to bridge strategy, operations, and implementation.
His commitment to community extends beyond his professional role, including his service as Senior Vice Commander of VFW Post 9365. Across his work, volunteer service, and personal life, Brian strives to build community, strengthen relationships, and contribute to places where people feel connected and supported.
Outside of work, Brian enjoys weightlifting, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Amanda, and their three daughters.
