Letter from Inform USA Board of Directors
To the Members of Inform USA and Inform Canada,
The Board of Directors of Inform USA recognizes that recent events in the U.S. and Canada may be affecting our members in a variety of ways. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and respectful environment where all members feel supported and valued. The Board is actively exploring meaningful ways to offer support and ensure the well-being of our community and those we serve.
We would like to assure our membership that the Board of Directors and Staff of Inform USA are committed to:
-
Fairness and respect for all while supporting the membership during the uncertainties that our agencies are facing in the current landscape.
-
A vision of a world in which all communities have the capacity to help people when they are in need, including making sure that all people feel heard and can access help no matter who or where they are.
-
The value of serving individuals and communities through a person-centered framework that recognizes the right of self-determination
-
The Inform USA standards as they support our membership in providing accurate, comprehensive, and unbiased information in a nonjudgmental manner.
-
Empowering the members of our communities to make informed decisions about their own care, housing, employment, independent living, and more.
-
The unconditional positive regard for all, regardless of political, religious, or other personal views.
-
Cultural intelligence and empathy, which are priorities in our education, training, and standards for the information and referral sector.
-
Diversity and Access because we believe that our communities are diverse and are entitled to equal access to all that our communities offer.
Earlier this year, we released the research conducted by Media Cause as part of a campaign we’re providing to the membership. We’ve also developed an informational document which we encourage you and your teams to use when advocating for your work.
We understand that this is a time of uncertainty, and we welcome members to contact the Board with any questions, feedback, or concerns they may have.
Sincerely,
The Inform USA Board of Directors
